Spoon Carving Workshop

Make your own spoon to take home using an axe to remove bulk material, and carving complex shapes using a straight and hook knife. Enjoy this traditional way of spoon making with hand tools.
This workshop covers:
• How a tree grows, wood structure, grain direction
• Design and templates
• Safety
• Species and timber selection
• Axe work
• Carving techniques; forehand grip, chest lever, pull stroke, thumb push and pivot
• Tool selection, maintenance and sharpening
• Finishing and oiling

This event is a partnership with the Fleurieu Environment Centre, Forestry SA, and Folk of all Trades.
The Fleurieu Environment Centre is part of the Greater Adelaide Environment Network seeded by Green Adelaide with support from the Hills and Fleurieu Landscape Board
All materials supplied.
No experience necessary.
